I had a great weekend at Mini Debconf; the aim for me was to pick up enthusiasm and see how much I understood. So now I am enthused :) Also this is my first weekend off since Andreas was born, I'd never left him for that long before and I did it two days in a row and everyone survived and it wasn't that bad!

I also felt very female, which doesn't happen often; of 79 registered attendees, 6 were female. *But* more people asked what I maintain than said 'Oh, Colin's wife', and one person said 'You look like Delirium, what do you maintain?' which is THE BEST introduction ever, and the fact that he was in charge of my caffeination for the weekend just made me more inclined to like him.

I didn't make a lot of notes, because I mostly didn't think of enough things to write down, but now I'm wishing I had, so I will be sure to write notes in August.

Anyway, videos aren't up yet, but when they are, I thoroughly appreciated Wookey & Dimitri's argument during Wookey's talk on cross-compilers, Lars & Simon's Obnam talk was very accessible and we get to feel smug, and I'd recommend to your attention David McBride's talk on scalable package distribution (because network stuff is cool, right?) and Ben's kernel talk, which was so good that it turned into two kernal talks because Ben is beautiful and brilliant and his passion for the kernel is enough to carry you along too, even if you previously didn't care, and for that matter, I didn't even slightly understand Vivek's talk on ramdisks, but he is a vivacious and engaging speaker, so if that sounds like a thing you'd understand you should do that.

ETA: Daniel points out that I unnacountably failed to mention that I got to look at pictures of his adorable baby snake! So baby snake is adorable, and I was very glad to look at pictures. Also, Daniel#s talk was incredibly helpful, and I shall be reading Yakking from now on.

Also, I now intend to go back and watch the talks from the Debian Women conference held in Barcelona in March, which had only female speakers, and will make me feel like everything is more balanced.

Awesome! :-) But now the question arises, what would Delirium maintain if she were a Debian developer?

I suppose the opening bid would be anything that deals in trippy psychedelic imagery, like fractal-drawing and music visualisation software.

Of the other Endless ... Destiny obviously maintains all the calendar and project-planning sorts of packages. Dream might well manage software useful to authors and artists, which is somewhere near his purview. I suppose Destruction would have arranged to maintain nothing but rm, or something similar. (And he'd be an absentee maintainer even of that; nothing would ever happen to his package(s) except by NMU).

Desire is trickier – it's obvious what it might be doing on the Internet, but in Debian, I'm not so sure. And I can't immediately work out what Death or Despair would be doing either. Hmmm.

That is an interesting question and I'm assuming it's something opaque and barely comprehensible.

Isn't it just? I mean, there was more in between than that, but that's the summary.

No mention of Kellogg :-(

Not a whisper of the delight at snake pictures though *sob*

It was lovely to see you again.
