Recently, in a bid to encourage Benedict to eat more variety, I persuaded him to give new lunchbox items a try.

I found this website, which has different websites for five days a wek for four weeks, and he's choosing two or three from each week for four weeks.

This week is week one; this scheme has led me to make ham and pineapple pizzas for everyone to eat for their lunch tomorrow, and as a result,. there is also pineapple sorbet freezing. I like this scheme :)

Did you use fresh or tinned pineapple for the sorbet?

Tinned; I opened a tin for making the pizza, and then there was loads left.

Sorbet is a new thing for me; Colin really likes it, so I tried Kiwi fruit sorbet the other day, and was really pleased with how well it turned out.

I made lime sorbet last night and it was really good! I'd only ever made Weird Sorbet (the wasabi and ginger one) before.

Peanut butter bagels is gross! I love peanut butter, but on white cottage loaf, with butter too and maybe jam on top. I love bagels, but with cream cheese and lox, or chopped herring or kosher salami. You have to come to Finsbury Park Happening Bagel place or the one in the East End in the street whose name I can't now recall but I can find it. They have the best Polish cheese cake too.

I only ever like peanut butter with marmite: I ate masses of this when carrying Sam, a little when carrying Hannah, don't any more. In our house, bagels are often spread with cream cheese and smoked salmon (is that what lox is?) and a touch or pepper and lemon or lime juice. I like herring, but forget to eat it.

The lemon or lime juice sound lovely, I'll try that. Lox is smoked salmon, yes. Herring is not just herring but sort of sweetish chopped herring you get in Jewish deli or bagel shops. I don't know how to make it but love it.

The herring I usually eat comes from Ikea! They have different marinades and sauces, not all on sale every time we go. The last jar was in a marinade, but the next jar is in mustard sauce.

I tend to like pickled herring, or heringsalat, which latter is probably similar. I rely on my mother to produce it by some weird maternal magic, though.

He's not allowed peanut butter in school anyway; and he's a bit unsure about bagels in general, so we might just use bread or rolls.

It does seem a bit weird.

That sounds nice :)
