Another American Girl cookbook, this time Felicity's cookbook. Felicity's book is set in 1774.
The book says 'An everyday dinner usually had two courses, with five dishes in each course.' Thankfully the book only provided five for the main course and one for dessert, that was plenty of food.

Sally Lunn bread. I think I cooked it too long, as it's meant to be two-tone colourwise. I was pleased with how it turned out though.

My plate of dinner. Chicken pudding, which is like toad in the hole with chicken pieces instead of sausages, veal meatballs (I was pleased to discover Ocado sell proper British rose veal for not significantly more than adult beef), sweet potato & apple casserole, green beans and the bread.
The chicken pudding was well received, I've been asked to make that again. Meatballs were a bit boring, def. not worth the faff. The casserole was, well, not very casseroley and too sweet for my tastes, B doesn't like sweet potatoes and too mushy for J. Green beans had salt&pepper and cream added afterwards, and I thought B would complain, but actually, he liked it.

Syllabub. It called for lemons and orange but my children can't have orange so I just used lemon. It was a bit sour, but everyone liked it. I do often boggle at how many things Americans can make non-alcoholic versions of.... it hadn't occurred to me before that non-alcoholic syllabub might be worthwhile.
