Zoo

On Monday, I took the children to London Zoo. I did this with some trepidation, as last time I went I was really upset at the state of it. Well, I'd heard it had improved since then so I thought it was only fair to give them a second time. And this time? I was really impressed.

They've obviously put a lot of effort in and it's payed off. The tigers, for example, have about 5 times the space they used to and now have room to play and be happy. The bat cave, which I remember being particularly disgusted by last time I was there, has been knocked into one so that one species has enough space to fly free - they now have about the same space as Shepreth, but bigger and fewer bats (flying foxes actually). Almost all the animals seemed happy (hon. mention to the blissed out napping kangaroos).

Basically, not London zoo is like almost any other major zoo, with a nice mix of happy, healthy animals who have enough space. My only concern (although I didn't see everything) was that the camels and zebras didn't have enough space. So I threw money at the problem and bought our family season tickets.

I'd recommend it, but don't go near the problem area if it's going to upset you, because I really do thing that if they had the money they'd fix that too, they've been trying so hard.
